April 25 | Session 1 | Freestyle & Backstroke Technique

Freestyle & Backstroke Technique

12 & Under | Saturday 2:00–4:00 PM | $150 | Limited to 20 Swimmers

Every fast swim starts with great technique. This session is built for younger swimmers who are ready to take their Freestyle and Backstroke to the next level. Over two focused hours, we break both strokes down to their core mechanics and rebuild them with purpose.

Freestyle

We start with the stroke every swimmer uses the most — and the one where small technical improvements create the biggest time drops. We work on building a high-elbow catch that grabs the water instead of slipping through it, body rotation that generates power from the hips rather than the shoulders alone, and kick efficiency that propels without creating drag. Swimmers learn what it feels like to move through the water with less effort and more speed.

Backstroke

Body position is everything. Most young swimmers sit too low in the water, kick from the knees, and lose power on every stroke. We teach them how to stay high on the surface with a tight core, rotate from the hips to drive each pull, and develop a steady, compact kick that keeps them moving forward. We also focus on the recovery — getting the arm over cleanly and entering the water in the right position to set up a strong catch.

What They Take Home

Every drill is designed for the 12 & Under age group — progressive, age-appropriate, and focused on feel over volume. Swimmers leave with specific corrections they can immediately bring back to daily practice and a deeper understanding of how their body moves through the water.
