Butterfly & Breaststroke Technique
13 & Over | Sunday 12:00–2:00 PM | $150 | Limited to 20 Swimmers
For older swimmers, Butterfly and Breaststroke are where races are won and lost — especially in IM. This session is built for 13 & Over athletes who want to sharpen these strokes with detailed, high-level technical work.
Butterfly
We focus on what separates a functional Fly from a fast one: kick timing that drives the hips forward on both the entry and the recovery, a catch that engages early and finishes with acceleration, breathing mechanics that keep the body low and connected to the water, and the ability to maintain stroke quality deep into a race when fatigue starts pulling the stroke apart. We work at varying speeds so swimmers understand how the stroke should feel at cruise pace and at race pace.
Breaststroke
We go after the details that produce time drops: maximizing kick width and power, eliminating the pause that kills momentum between the kick and the glide, keeping the pull narrow and fast, and finding the optimal body line during the glide phase. For swimmers who compete in the 100 or 200 Breast, we also work on tempo control — learning how to adjust stroke rate based on race distance without losing efficiency. We dedicate focused time to the pullout as well, because a great pullout is worth a body length at every wall.
What They Take Home
This is a session for swimmers who already know the strokes and want to own them. Small group, expert coaching, two hours of focused work that translates directly to faster racing. Swimmers leave with refined mechanics, a better feel for race-pace technique, and the confidence that comes from knowing their strokes can hold up when it matters most.
